Produced by and featuring will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, Timeless is a new take on the music of Sergio Mendes, one of the most internationally successful Brazilian musicians of all time. Mendes, who 40 years ago brought Brasil '66 and "Mas Que Nada" to the world, is remixed and reproduced on this new release.
Will and Sergio brought in the Black Eyed Peas, and also recruited some of pop music's biggest artists, each a Sergio fan, to contribute to various tracks, including Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, india.arie, Black Thought of The Roots, John Legend, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Jill Scott, and Q-Tip.
Recorded in Brazil and Los Angeles, Timeless is a marriage of rhythms, Brazilian, African, hip-hop, jazz, sambe combined with cool melodies. It is a little heavy on the hip-hop for the first couple of tracks and it felt that Mendes was a little lost in the mix but after a couple of songs it finds a rhythm and a balance and the rest of the recording is a dream.
