Zero 7 hit big in 2001 with Simple Things, one of those albums that everybody seemed to have and play all the time. It was a magical piece of electronica, smooth, cool and full of nice grooves and good ideas. Their song ?Distractions? was a big hit via HBO?s drama, Six Feet Under, and put them firmly on the map.
'The Garden' looks to be all this and more.
Zero 7 are basically two friends, Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker?London-based engineers/musicians/remixers, collaborating with great singers and creating cool, acid-funk and jazz grooves. The sound is warmer on this one. Jose Gonzalez, whose own album, Veneer, is a must-have in your collection, supplies some guest vocals and will tour with the band.
This is one of those albums best heard and less talked about, not because there is nothing to say but because it should be listened to?many times.
